worldhistoryfacts:

An ad from around 1900 for Fragrant Sozodont, an early mouthwash/tooth cleaning product. Its mixture of soap, calcium carbonate, alcohol, and spices could be sprayed into the mouth or applied with a toothbrush for “perfect teeth, hard gums, and sweet breath.” The product, which was quite popular in the late 19th century, declined in sales once it became clear that frequent users ended up with very little tooth enamel and dark yellow teeth.
